Inspire Talented Soccer Academy

Kids First Soccer Program is a Nationally Recognized Soccer Academy

The Kids First Uganda Inspire Talented Soccer Academy is a nationally recognized Federation oiel Uganda Football Association (FUFA) soccer academy. The program supports roughly 500 at-risk boys and girls in the slums of Kansanga, Soya, Bunga and Gaba (all within Kampala). Our teams are divided into three divisions: 7-10 years, 11-15 years, and 16-18 years. We field boys, girls, and co-ed teams. The kids practice weekly on a field loaned to us by a KFU supporter.

The program began in 2010 with a few dozen children and one ball. Thanks to financial support and a partnership with a class of 7th graders in Michigan and through on-going fund-raising and donations of soccer gear, KFU subsequently provided the means for the program to grow to the major success it is today.

We measure this programs’ success not only through the teams’ win-loss record and multiple championship trophies, but more importantly, by the impact it has on the lives of our children and their families. Due to a lack of parental guidance and care in the slums many young people become addicted to drugs, are raped, or become involve in prostitution. Kids First Uganda soccer program targets these children to keep them away from trouble. Our amazing coach and staff not only teach soccer skills, but also provide mentoring, counseling, wellness training, and in some cases, housing and parenting. Equally important, to date 100 of our players Have been scouted and recruited for full-ride bursaries to boarding schools, ensuring uninterrupted schooling and reducing the financial burden on families who struggle to pay school fees.
